Rising Star Alert: Ronan Nieland, WR Recruit Ready for College Football

In the competitive world of North Carolina high school football, few players have shone as brightly this season as Hickory High School’s Ronan Nieland (North Carolina). Class of 2027, this 6’3″, 180-pound athlete has turned heads with his explosive playmaking ability, elite speed, and unwavering work ethic. Playing for Hickory High School, the No. 3 ranked 5A team in the state, Nieland has been a key contributor as a wide receiver and defensive back, helping lead the Red Tornadoes deep into the playoffs.

Nieland’s 2025 stats speak volumes: 34 receptions for 832 yards and 8 touchdowns, averaging 73.5 yards per game and an impressive 26.3 yards per catch. His speed is no joke either—a blistering 4.53-second 40-yard dash and 6.50-second 60-yard dash make him a nightmare matchup for defenses. Just ask East Lincoln High School, where Nieland hauled in 7 catches for 200 yards and 4 TDs in a thrilling 31-28 victory, earning him HighSchoolOT’s Male Athlete of the Week honors. Add in his 2025 NC Farm Bureau Player of the Week award and NC Game of the Week MVP, and it’s clear this kid is built for big moments.

But Nieland isn’t just about football. He’s a multi-sport standout, earning All-Conference and All-Region honors in baseball as a Center Fielder and Pitcher for Hickory.  Off the field, his academics are equally elite: a 4.28 weighted GPA (3.87 unweighted) and a top-25 class rank along with being an active in the community member.

His blend of size, speed, production, and intangibles screams Power 5 potential and a recruit to watch. Check out his highlights:
